Flight Radiotelephony Operators Licence (FRTOL)

What is the FRTOL?

The Flight Radiotelephony Operator's Licence (FRTOL) is the official UK qualification that authorises you to operate an aircraft radio station in a UK-registered aircraft.

This essential licence is a fundamental requirement for anyone seeking to communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC), ground services, and other pilots.

The FRTOL can be held as a stand-alone licence or in conjunction with a Flight Crew licence, such as your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

Who is the FRTOL for?

The FRTOL is an essential part of your journey, whether you're a student pilot preparing for your first solo flight or an experienced aviator.

All applicants must have a valid UK CAA English Language Proficiency statement at level 4, 5, or 6 and provide evidence that this has been passed.

This is also the perfect course for anyone who may have previously held an FRTOL which has now expired and needs to revalidate or renew it.
