NEW SAFETY NOTICE ON STCS AND COMPONENT INTERACTIONS

The CAA has issued Safety Notice SN-2026/002, reminding UK aircraft owners of the hidden risks when combining multiple Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs). Ensure your maintenance organisation reviews the compatibility of all modifications to maintain airworthiness.

This notice is a critical reminder for the GA community, especially those upgrading older airframes with modern avionics or performance kits.

The CAA warns that while individual Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) are safe on their own, the interaction between multiple "bolt-on" modifications can create hazardous flight characteristics or structural interference.

If you are planning an upgrade this spring, you must ensure your maintenance provider performs a dedicated compatibility assessment.

Owners of aircraft that have undergone multiple recent modifications should review their airworthiness logs to ensure no "interactions" were overlooked during the embodiment process.
